Running alot and eating healthy, but still not losing!!!Submitted by missam20032003 on Fri, 06/27/2008 - 2:22pm.
weight loss
I will try to make this as short as possible...I have been dealing with my weight since I had my child...losing it then gaining it back. Well I have decided that this last gain was my last and have committed myself to losing it for the last and final time. I have changed my eating habits -- watching calories -- watching fat -- but not DIETING and running right now anywhere from 24-30 miles a week. I don't want to appear impatient; however, I have been doing this for 3 weeks now and haven't even lost a lb. I have been eating 1500-2000 calories a day and as I stated making the healthier choices (higher fiber breads/cereals--fresh fruits--no soda--little fast food but the healthiest choices possible when I do) and no loss. I'm trying not to rely on the scales and I'm trying to focus my attention on the running and eating right, but as we all know that is sometimes easier said than done. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? Or am I just being impatient? A doctor for weight loss?Submitted by livesatlifetime on Wed, 05/14/2008 - 10:07am.

I am 22 and am trying to loose weight. I am overweight. My doctor says i'm perfectly healthy but my BMI is 35% how can that be healthy? the thing is i have had a series of health problem since i was 17 from kidneys, liver, intestines all of which have cleared up but now apparently i have low blood sugar. i go to the gym every day and do at least 1.5 hours of cardio work out some treadmill, biking, swimming, raquetball. I try to stay active and change up my routine i take all my viatmins but when i step on the scale the numbers just dont change and i hear everyone say its muscle.. well it's not cuase i still haven't lost inches either. I've kept up my gym routine for almost a year. I eat decently, mostly veggies, lean protien and greens and oatmeal for breakfast. and i still don't understand why i dont lose weight. is ther a doctor i can see that is spealizied in weight loss.. i know it sounds stupid but my doctor (which i'm changing by the way) doesn't seem to think that i have a problem. He says everything is fine. I'm not one to stress either. I usually don't let things get to me and running is my outlet. My family is thin except for the beer bellys... i don't drink. i dont know what is wrong General wieght loss and Fitness Resources for newbieSubmitted by nhlguy on Fri, 04/25/2008 - 8:47am.

Hi - I am just getting into working out with the goal of losing a spare tire and getting more fit in general. I'm 6'3" and 270 lbs. My goal is to build more muscle and drop to a wieght of around 230 lbs.
My question is - As a newbie to the workout world, I need some resources that will teach me about the best practices of getting fit. For example: How much of my workout should be cardio and how much should be wieght or resistance training? What to eat before and after a work out to maximize my efforts? I dont eat alot of vegitables particularly greens, what can I do to suppliment my diet?
These are just a few of the questions that I have in mind! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

weight loss
I am currently at 243 pounds. I just hired a trainer at a local gym and I continue to work on eating right and hydrating myself throughout the day. Currently, I work out 5 to 6 days a week. Some weight training, some aerobics and some elliptical. What can I do to increase my weekly weight loss? Also my problem area is upper body, mostly midsection weight. What can I do other than sit ups to increase the shedding of tummy weight? I hear jogging is good? I am so top heavy and jogging hurts my feet! help! Hi, I'm new to this site, and am at a point in my life where I'd like to make serious long term/life changes, but need some help.
I am a 30 year old mother of 3 and while time can be difficult in large chunks of time, I can manage a block of +/- an hour @ 3x or so a week. I am looking to lose about 30 lbs over the next 5 months (in time for our beach vacation over the summer) -- going from @ 160 lbs to 130ish.
I work from home on Mon, Wed & Fri, and find that I can get a 5 mile run in on those days. I also take my oldest son to soccer practice on Mon & Wed, and have @ 1 hour for running/walking then. I am training myself to run the Capital 10K in @ 6 weeks. I am afraid, though, that I'm doing this "wrong". Will I mess up my metabolism? What should I concentrate on when and for how long, etc? How can I fully optimize my time to burn the most fat and calories to reach not only my weight loss goal but get me ready for my first 10K run?
I would be grateful for any suggestions and/or tips to help me reach my goals!
Thanks!
