The calves plantar flex the foot by pushing the toes towards the ground, creating propulsion in nearly every movement. In walking, jogging and sprinting we will not go very far without a little push from our calves. Jumping higher involves pushing the ground away with your calves. And of course wearing shorts becomes more appealing with proportional legs.
• To start, walk up to a Standing Calf Raise Machine.
• Align the pad with your shoulders while standing on the ground.
• Step onto the platform and stand on the balls of your feet.
• Allow your heels to sink below parallel.
• To ascend tiptoe.
• To increase the challenge, stand on only one leg.
