Had an excellent week walking and eating right. Easily took off the wieght I put on last week and now looking to make a good move on down.
Starting to really get into the groove of walking and starting to feel the difference. Several people have commented on my weight loss. Good motivation to keep going, even after this competition...not to mention another side competition I have going on through the end of August.
Well, I figured that once my grandson left and I could get back on my workout and eating schedule, that the gain I posted last week would quickly drop away. And it did. Now, can I keep the loss going. Three days does not a consistent weight loss make. The key will be the end of the week. Can I reduce a couple more pounds by then. We're gonna give it a good try.
Well, after having my grandson for a week and not having the opportunity to walk and exercise, as well as having more "not so good" things than I should (you just try saying no to your only grandson), my weight loss progress was in reverse. But looking to be back in the saddle this weekend and expect the few pounds I gained to come off rather quickly...at least I hope so.
Well, I did gain some, but needless to say, it could have been a whole lot worse. The good part though is I enjoyed myself over the weekend. Had some good BBQ, enjoyed the fireworks, had some good chili dogs with my grandson, and a few good desserts. i did eat in moderation, so no major clitch. Reading some of the other blogs, sounds like I am one of the few who still have a life. I know this is a competition and there is some pretty good money on the line, but I never had any dreams of grandeur of winning, just losing some weight and using this as a springboard to a healthier life, not to mention starting to get ready for a 1/2 marathon in November.
Best week of walking yet, and really didn't see results. Has me concerned going into the holiday weekend. I am hoping just a minor plateau that will be worked through beginning next week.
Good news though. Some people have noticed and commented on the weight loss.
Really thought I would see a small decrease this morning, having had three good walks this week and stayed on the diet very well. I guess this is the pause that refreshes and I blast off (lower) soon. The next week could really be tough. Not only the Fourth of July holiday, but we are keeping our grandson for a week. That will either cause us to eat horribly with no exercise or completely drain us from entertaining him and chasing him around all week.
Accidently hit a wrong number entering my weight today, so ignore the percentage weight loss for me. It's all a lie. But I did lose a little over the weekend.
After the larger than expected drop Wednesday, I was expecting a possible increase, but the small drop today is encouraging. I have been consistent with my walking and diet and the results are coming. Now, the weekend is here and need to make sure that I come out of it without any gain. Part of the walking plan is longer walks on Saturday mornings. My wife and I are talking, and started the process of training, for walking the San Antonio 1/2 marathon in November. Who knows, if she really gets into it, we may go for the full marathon.
Was not expecting that quick of a comeback from this weekend. Got two good days of walking in Monday and Tuesday, as well as eating right. Keeping calorie count probably somewhere around 1700-1800 (not actually counting, but conscious of what I am eating). After I got my burger fix taken care of this weekend, been having lower calorie lunches (can you say Subway) and fish or chicken in the evenings. My wife got me on oatmeal in the mornings about a month ago and I think that is really helping keep my hunger pangs away in the mornings. I also have a small snack mid afternoon and a good amount of fruit throughout the day. Add in the fact that I staying away from soft drinks and drinking about 2-3 liters of water every day, and things are looking up (or rather moving down in this case).
Well, I figured that Father's Day could cause some problems and it did. Slid back a little bit, but overall, satisfied with how little I did slide. Got a good walk in on Saturday morning as well as this morning. Looking to continue to increase distance and resistance (more and/or higher hills) as I go along.
And the beat goes on!!! It was a good week of exercise (walking) and eating right. I feel good with the weight loss, and although this tortoise is no where close to the hares at the end of the first real week of "competition", it is long race. We'll see if the hares can maintain their pace!
That said, could be a rough weekend on the food front - Father's Day with me getting to choose wherever I want to go and whatever I want to eat. That could be dangerous. We'll see on Monday.
Continue to lose slow but sure. Got in a walk yesterday morning, rest today and a longer walk scheduled for tomorrow. Key is maintaining to the walking schedule and maintaining a good diet. Lots of fruit and water, to go along with smaller portions of fish and chicken.
Got in a longer walk on Saturday and yoga on Sunday, so good cardio and strengthening over the weekend. Also had a good walk this morning. I was happy with the results from the weekend considering I had several glasses of wine and several beers at a couple of previously committed to engagements. Thinking some of the weight loss could be water weight, but at this point, anything in the down direction is good. Just gottat make sure to maintain the walking and eating plans I have in place.
Well, got out a couple times to walk, but a tooth extraction and pain medication kept me down for a couple days. However, diet modification has been good. Will be able to walk tomorrow morning for my weekly "long" walk.
Well, doing this three times a week will be new for me since I never blog, but who knows, may get to like it. Weighed in Tuesday and immediately began my quest to lose weight. If I win, great, but I am using this more as motivation to get my butt back into exercising. I trained for and walked the Austin marathon two years ago and have hardly walked since. Got out there Tuesday evening and wow, where did my lung capacity go? The only positive was that I recovered pretty quickly.
My "plan" for losing weight is pretty simple. First, begin exercising, which in this case, is walking four days a week, working to get the metabolism back up. During the week, the walks will be shorter, with a longer walk on Saturday's. Next, strive to keep calorie count at around 1800 "good" calories a day. Lots of fruit, veggies, fish and chicken...and the toughest part, no alcohol...lol.
Well, don't want to write eight weeks of blog in my first one. Best of luck to everyone and here's to feeling that much better about ourselves in eight weeks.
