Yesterday, after weigh in, I was so excited about my final weight that I couldn't wait to post it. Well in my haste, I hit the wrong number on my keypad, and entered like an extra 80 pounds lost! So if any of you happend to have seen the leaderboard when this number was on it, I'm sorry. I really did not lose like 50%. I DID howerver lose almost 20%. I really put on a push the final 3 days, especially on Friday. I walked and jogged many miles and hours each day. Remember, I am the guy who didn't exercise during this competition. However, I kept reading about number one and two running, biking, and sports/workouts hours per day, so I tried it. On Friday, I went for the 'water' loss. I fasted for 24 hours and put in 4 hours of walking/jogging on Friday prior to dragging myself to the scale for weigh-in. (I had my two bottles of gateraide, and two bottles of Ensure on ice in my car). At the scale, I did what I set out to do. I broke 200! My minimum goal was to reach 203.6 which would have been 18%, but I exceeded it. So that's it. 199.2 pounds at the sclae. After weigh-in I sat in my car and drank gateraide, and (2 bottles of Ensure), and napped for 30 minutes, and did not make my promised trip to Krispy Kreme. I then came home and worked (to make up for the day off) until now, the 15th, so I could re-post my final weight and have the % be correct. Maybe I can exercise next year and do better.
Wow! It's finally here. Like others have said, "this is not the end". I am pleased with the 'mental adjustment' I have made about food and eating. I truly believe that I have made some permanent changes. I am proud of the weight that I have lost, and hope when I weigh in today that I will hit my 1983 "start weight". That was when I first hit 210 and started a "diet". I lost 29 lbs that time, in 7 weeks. So If I am at 210 today, I will start on that "new goal" of going for the 180 mark (like by Thanksgiving). In any respect, Thank You Fit Capital for the opportunity. It gave me a purpose for doing this, staying with it to the end, and feeling a part of the group. See you at weigh in. (still gonna go to Krispy Kreme!)
I actually have exercised a little over the past 3 days, and it may be that old thing about muscle weighing more than fat, but I did not lose anything the last 3 days. (having a beer with friends on Saturday night did not help, nor the popcorn at the movie last night). So now I'm happy with what I've done. I'm not going to change my ways, I simply am looking forward to Friday after weigh-in when I can go get my Krispy Kreme donuts (2 of them only) as my reward for completing this 8 weeks. Then I will continue to keep my intake down, and if I do continue to exercise, I should be able to take it down another a few more pounds, just that it may take another 4-8 weeks to do it. I'm happy with the 29 I got off already. 35 would have been nice. It's been fun.
Had friends over for a beer or two, and didn't exercise. Have to get on the 'push to the end' by tomorrow, as the week will certainly fly bye. Oh well!
It's so inspiring that I can see next Saturday the opportunity to actually go to a resturant with friends and order food. I won't eat much, but it will be nice to order something and feel like I'm not restricted to water and salad. (I think I'll have a 6 or 7 oz. steak and eat 1/3-1/2 of it with a veggie. Wow!! The end is near.
Wow, Vegas was fun, but Colorado Springs was great. What weather. 88 in the sun in the daytime and 56 at night. So I did some great walking (a lot) and continued to eat less, even with my friends bbq(ing). I ate 1 chicken leg! Well, I can wait 2 weeks to eat a little more. I'm going back on the 28th, so they can make me a steak then.
Well I did it. I started to exercise. I "power walked" Ceasars Palace during my breaks from the poker playing. One time for 25 min. So I got some good milage in today. Now to see if I can get out of bed in the morning. Then the day consists of sitting on a plane for hours. Denver is my next stop.
Got to vegas after traveling via Phoenix and Denver, (long story), so when I got here, I had been up for 28 hours. Room would not be available for 3 more hours, so I entered a poker tournament. Played 6.5 hours and came in 14th out of 150, so made a couple of dollars for my time, but now after 37 hours w/o sleep, I'm signing off for today. As you might guess, sitting on planes and at a poker table did not offer much exercise.
Once again it's time to go go go. NO sleep, walk from casino to casino don't stop to eat. Drink lots of water Get out in the hot sun, (cooler than Austin has been!) and swet a little. Didn't bring a swim suit, so don't plan on taking that long of a break from the poker table. Keep you posted for the next 4 days.
It really feels great to have everyone now notice that I have lost weight. I promise to start exercising Friday before midnight. I plan to just walk a lot, but maybe a crunch or two and a few situps.
If I keep this up, I have about 10 new shirts that may fit me (again!). Haven't checked on my best suit yet. the last time I checked it looked like I would need about 50 lbs to look at it! won't look at that for a while!
Was too busy sitting on my butt working all day to even get a chance to eat. So by default I lost a half pound. Hope it wasn't just water loss. Didn't drink enough I know. Maybe tomorrow, but another busy day planned.
Lowest that I have weighed since 1999. Not a bad start. Now going for 1983 record weight, but will be happy with 1990! Still no exercise
Had to choose between playing poker for 6 hours or exercising. Took about 2 min. to decide. Played the tournament in prep for my trip to vegas next weekend. Did o.k. made a little traveling money. Only lost 1/2 lb, but again, better than nothing.
I may have to give back that 1/2 lb I shaved off this morning, having gone out to eat tonight with friends, AND to a movie where I did eat some popcorn! Not to worry, tomorrow is Saturday and I WILL Exercise! If it ain't off in the morning, it will be by night fall.
Stayed up too late to get up and exercise before work today. So had to 'skip' a day. Did gain a notch on my belt though. So walking a little taller today with that as a triumph!
Today I actually did it. I started my day with 25 min on the stationary bike. I promise to do it every other day. My goal is to do it every day. If I can keep to that, or on occassion change to some other form of exercise, I will have a habit formed by the end of the competion. That and my eating habits change may stick past the end. No Promises at this time, as Krispy Kreme is still waiting.
Planned on taking advantage of the cooler weather and exercizing this morning. But sleep was too attractive. even got to work late!! Oh, well, maybe tonight after playing poker, I will ride my bike to make some head way.
The yard work in the hot sun worked. I lost that pound. Now I'm going to start making a list of the foods I used to eat that I think I can live without. Then those which I will limit my intake of. (Still doesn't stop me from 3 Krispy Kreme donuts after final weigh in!!!)
disappointing. No change. I'm signing off for today and going to go work in the yard in the 101 heat. With the water loss, I'll feel like I lost some weight. Maybe it will qualify as 'exercise'.
Thought I would start to exercise today, but rode around in a car all day. So only thing I could do was eat less, if that is possible. However, I did NOT eat popcorn in the movie. Wasn't as hard to pass on as I thought.
Was a little victory on the scale, but at too many grapes. That slowed my ketosis. Today no grapes, just meat and salad. Will see what tomorrow brings. Supose to be cooler, maybe it's time for a walk.
Feeling good, and not hungry, but must start to exercise to really get on track. Just to hot to do anything outside during the day. Maybe a 'walk' in the evening will get me started.
I was somewhat disappointed in not dropping some weight the last 3 days, but re-evaluated what I had eaten. Made a slight adjustment and think I am back on track now. (eat less!)
Gained l lb overnight, so cheated and worked out to get it off, so I could be even for today! Gotta quit eating popcorn, even when it was air popped!
I was a little discouraged this morning, as I just barely lost .5 lbs overnight. What am I complaining about? If the direction is flat or down, why bitch about it!!! I'm going the right direction, so I should be happy with the .5 lb!! Going to exercise today and see if I can get a lb next time. TOO D... HOT out!!
Who's ever heard of sugar? What is a "sweet"? Beer?, Soda?, diet drinks? Meals where you use utinsils? All becoming old memories (well, maybe not the utinsils)
Like they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Going down like 0-.5 per day ain't bad, if I don't have to work any harder than this. Still not hungry, but looking forward to the end of this. When I hit my goal, I'm going to go an extra 2 lbs, then go to Krispy Kreme and have 3 donuts, hot off the line. Then wait another 6 months before doing it again.
I'm actually craving the foods I now eat (because there is so little of it). Really! I like salad without dressing. I have found the uniquie composite of flavors of the ingredients of boiled egg, dried cranberries, swiss cheeze, tomatoes, pepers, lettus, sunflower seeds, diced chicken, cucumbers, feta cheeze, ripe olives, to be a fantastic meal. No loss today (must have been the hamburger patti I ate last night, too late).
No movie yesterday, no popcorn, and lost .5 lb Going to try eating a bunless hamburger tonight.
It may not be the popcorn, but again no loss, and I did some exercise. Tried less food today. See what tomorrow brings.
Disappointing morning. Really thought the 10 min on the bike and low intake would still get me a loss. Didn't happen. Must have been the popcorn at the movies. So mowed the yard on the 4th of july in the heat. Definately more exercise than the bike. should work to lose today.
I'm starting on the stationary bike. Walking further from the car to shops, etc. Not much, but it's helping.
I was disappointed in gaining 1/2 lb on Tuesday, so I jogged up the stairs at work (3x) v just walking up them. I also was sure not to eat anything after 9pm. It may have helped, I got that 1/2 lbs plus it's brother and sister, and looks like 1+ lbs less this morning than yesterday. Yeah!
Once you've given it up for a while, you don't miss it as much. I knew that 1/2 pound I lost yesterday was too good to be true. IT'S BACK!
It's surprising how little food you REALLY need. So far I've held to the right kinds, and very little. Had a hard time passing Krispy Kreme TWICE when the HOT sign was on in the last 24 hours! Man that is my reward when this is over!!! THREE HOT DOUGHNUTS RIGHT OFF THE LINE. (with a DIET pepsi of course!)
Another day, another pound. IF I could keep this up, another 45 days, another 45 lbs, would truly be amazing.
I guess they are right. If you eat less, you gain less! Meals are a thing of the past. Must remember to drink more water.
It's working. Play poker 18 hours a day, drink lots of water, walk from casino to casino, always use the stairs (3rd floor on the hotel),eat less, and only sleep 3-4 hours a day. I have been losing weight. (too bad I'm also losing money!)
more water, more walking, less food, less sleep. and less money too.
Still in Las Vegas, and still eating less, and sleeping less. This will be my 'official start' on losing weight.
Eating less, walking more, getting less sleep. May lose some pounds at it.
another steak and potato night, but only 1/2 potato. No weight gain, so must be going the right way.
Another day, no change. Getting ready for vacation, where I will be able to eat when I want to. Thus I believe the 'start' of my diet. Eat more often, eat less total, never hungry.
WEll, at least I didn't gain any weight. After my good start to 'eating less' I went out to a steak, potato, green beens, and salad dinner with friends last night. At least I only had ONE beer. and NO dessert. So this morning, no loss, but NO gain! Now to make it a week between these dinners, then two, etc.
I actually watched my intake of food today. Most of it went right into my mouth! but it was less than normal.
today I weighed in the morning. MUCH better! down by 2!!!
Another day, eating a little less, but still had hotdog and hamburger (Texas Base Ball game, what can I say? At least we won!) I have targeted next week to get on the game board.
Weigh in on 6-09-09 (good start date) was 248. Not much to say, except glad to have a goal and motivation. Weight today after working in the hot sun was 244, most likely up again now that I have re-hydrated. Working on getting my head into eating less and more often. Hardcore weight loss will come after the 'baby steps' are in place (maybe 15-30 days from now).
