What is the best thing you can do for dehydration? Should you take any down-time with regards to exercising? Thank you, heather


down time

with my experiance in the army and playing sports. i would say yes... at least 24hrs of light indoor activites and if you are out doors make shure some is with you. make shure you are drinking water and gatorade. pinch your skin on your arm when your are hydrated. it should snap rite back to your arm. when your not it will stay in the pinched state for a moment and take a while to go down. hope this was what you were looking for.

Dehydration

The best thing for dehydration is to prevent it. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day before working out. If you fail to get enough fluids within your system and dehydration occurs, then you I would highly suggest pickle juice. Yes, pickle juice has the electrolytes needed to recover from dehydration, and then drink plenty of water.

If you are dehydrated, then yes you should stop and give your body a rest. I would advise not working out for the rest of the day, so you can give your body time to recover. Through my experience I know what it can do to you if you don't listen to your body.

Thank you Dietrich -- I didn't intend to get dehydrated the other day, but I certainly learned a lesson! (And, I won't be running in the middle of the day again when it's been so hot!)

I'll try the pickle juice next time if I get into that predictament!
