Hi - I am just getting into working out with the goal of losing a spare tire and getting more fit in general. I'm 6'3" and 270 lbs. My goal is to build more muscle and drop to a wieght of around 230 lbs.
My question is - As a newbie to the workout world, I need some resources that will teach me about the best practices of getting fit. For example: How much of my workout should be cardio and how much should be wieght or resistance training? What to eat before and after a work out to maximize my efforts? I dont eat alot of vegitables particularly greens, what can I do to suppliment my diet?
These are just a few of the questions that I have in mind! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Lets Start!
At this point it is important to address everything. The way you structure your workout will be based on your time constraints and priorities. Starting new with exercise is the best time to incorporate basic Program design principles:
Aerobic factors – Find your base. What can you do now as an aerobic workout? Try different exercises such as walking, biking, or any of the numerous cardio machines in a gym. Try adding time weekly.
Anaerobic factors – At this point you are looking at basic weight training, form, and postural/body awareness through movement. Start relatively light and keep adding small increments weekly to avoid overtraining.
Flexibility – Often overlooked. This will help immensely in recovery form exercise, reduction of stress, and help with body awareness.
Nutrition – This is Number 1 in reaching your goals. Quality and variety are key. Although you are not fond of leafy greens try different ways of preparing them. Different dressings such as balsamic or lime, maybe even mixed with other foods.
Recovery – Plan at least one day to avoid intense exercise. Take some time to reflect and plan out the rest of your week.
These are all very good questions and can be addressed directly by contacting any of our professionals via e-mail. They are all great resources.
