Hello, My name is patty and i am about to be 21 and am tired of being chucky. i know i am FAT but i feel it. i have tried to work out before had personal trainer but she tought me nothing to use later in life. I would just like some advice to what i should do to just start and get into a routine, how to eat healthier without spending alot of money, and just basically learning. I just need to know like the baby steps to make working out a habit. well not sure if whoever is rading this will understand but any questions please write back thank you.

I’d like to add a little to Mary’s excellent advice.
1. Start adding in short term goals. Exercising longer or bringing up your intensity every week or so. As well as making small nutritional changes such as eating one more salad or one less sweet per day.
2. Use the articles posted here on fit capital to learn how to do exercises that you do not need weights for such as Squats, crunches and pushups.
3. Ponder one positive thought or happy memory every day and let it stay with you. Use it as fuel when the walks/runs seem longer that usual.

Hi Patty,

Sounds like you've certainly got the desire to make some positive changes in your life that will lead to good overall health. I'd like to make recommendations based on your profile.

1. Since you like you like walking, running, and the gym, you should start with one of those. Walking is the most reasonable choice because it's readily available, you know how to do it, and it's free.

2. You mention that you might need a workout partner. Find someone, or a group of people, who you would like to spend 30-40 minutes 3-5 times a week getting to know better. That way you can walk together and, rather than it seeming like just exercise, you will benefit from building a stronger bond with him/her/them.

3. Finally, you stated that your fitness goals are to basically feel good inside and out. Good health starts on the inside and manifests itself externally. Sound nutritious choices can be easily learned, are affordable, and are important for a healthy internal body system. However, you might also want to take it a step further to examine the intangible aspect of your "inside" - the attitudes and thoughts that motivate you. Evaluate where they are right now, then take steps that will point them in a positive direction.

I hope this helps. You are welcome to contact me if you would like more info!
